Mozilla as a BitTorrent client
Loune's Summer of Code proposal of implementing BitTorrent in Mozilla was accepted. Great news for the Mozilla lovers! :-)
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

The URL of Gmail was changed from https://gmail.google.com/gmail/ to https://mail.google.com/mail/ today. Damnit! My Gmail Notifier now stopped from working…
OK, besides my new toy, I got a new phone as well. It's Nokia 3230 (I'm used to Nokia). I still can't connect it with the computer yet (the infra-red of the notebook doesn't seem to be responsing and I don't have any bluetooth/cable connector…), so I can't get back the photos that I taken, and can't use the phone as a MP3 player yet :-P.
I bought a LinkStation (250GB) yesterday. It's cool. I've centralized some of my data to this server, hence they are accessible from any machine within my LAN.
I tried to setup the FTP but no success. I can set up the FTP as anonymous FTP, but it is not accessible from the WWW (it said possible PASV port theft
). If I set it up as restricted FTP (require LinkStation user login), the server is even not accessible (connection refused). I wonder what's wrong with it, or is it just me? :-S
I just created my vCard, so that one can easily add me to his/her address book. Add me as your (email) contact if you are interested.
Since it was created by using just a text editor, I'm not sure if all syntax is correct. But at least it can used correctly by the Windows Address Book.
P.S. As a side note, "vCard syndicating" should be a cool feature for email clients like Thunderbird (since it got RSS/Atom syndicating already).
Google finally made a XHTML interface (send as application/xhtml+xml
!) for its search service. It's a much cleaner interface intended for mobile devices. But I think even desktop users should give it a try! ;-)
Bug 76831 - Slow startup after long periods of inactivity (minimized window or other) is (somehow) fixed. Yeah! It was the most annoying bug to me. :-D
I was rather surprised that the boss created several "boxes" of name card for me, though I'm not sure if they will be ever given to people. X-D
P.S. Dear spammers and email address collectors, don't ever waste your time on collecting my email address. It's because that I'm using Thunderbird, which offers me a great spam filter.
Today, I found that Google has successful (to some extends) indexed my "cutting-edge" XHTML site:
&site.title;
File Format: Unrecognized - View as HTML
WeatherPixie This is the personal website of Martin Ng (ä¼æ˜åº·), a computer science graduate. This site serves as a testbed for my experiments about ...
minghong.f2g.net/ - Similar pages
Why "to some extends"? Because:
Anyway, it seems to be better than nothing. Let's hope that Google will improve its file parser someday…
Today I finally got the nifty photos of FSE project exhibition held at May 25-27. Just some group photos. :-P
P.S. The two notebooks on the right is showing my project: a web-based real-time collaborative editor called LivePad. It is part of the KlogMS project.
First Safari, then iCab, and now Konqueror. I guess Opera will be the fourth browser to pass the Acid2 test, since Mozilla developers don't seem to be interested in passing it. I'm quite sure that Firefox will pass it sooner or later (perhaps Gecko 1.9?), but it is not the top priority.
Internet Explorer? Forget it.
The Creative Commons has received a number of angry responses that said CC "hijacked" their Firefox searchbar. This is, of course, due to insufficient understanding of the browser. CC has created a page to explain the "problem", which isn't really a problem in the first place...
Some people are just too stupid...
With the release of Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1, the old-school spellchecker is now replaced with a smarter inline spellchecker as expected in word processing tools like Microsoft Word and OOo Writer. However, the default dictionary ironically doesn't contain the defination of Firefox
and Thunderbird
:
I guess it is not that hard to add these Mozilla-related words into the dictionary, right?
P.S. Obviously it is not a grammer checker. ;-P
Secunia has reported a rather stupid weakness in Internet Explorer that can crush the browser by simply using JavaScript. One just need to add window()
(yes, incorrectly used this object as a method) to the onload
event handler of the HTML document.
ROFUTS!
Will you get 4500 USD from Google? ;-)
The Summer of Code is Google's program designed to introduce students to the world of Open Source Software Development.
This Summer, don't let your programming skills lie fallow...Use them for the greater good of Open Source Software and computer science! Google will provide a $4500 award to each student who successfully completes an open source project by the end of the Summer.
